INDONESIA HOLDS 14TH AARM PROFESSIONALLY, SAYS
CHIEF OF BRUNEI CONTINGENT
The Indonesian
National Army holds the 14th Asean Armies Rifle Meet (AARM)
which has been taking place in Cilodong, West Java, since
September 1 to 8, 2004, professionally with the supports of
all the Asean member countries, Chief of Brunei Darussalam's
contingent to the 14th AARM Lt.Col.Hj Aminudin Ihsan bin Hj
Abidin sai here Saturday.
The 14th
AARM is organized better than before as all the facilities
for the event including the shooting 1 ranges are comfortable.
In addition, housing as well as foods and drinks are well
served for the contingents, better than the expectation, he
said. Aminudin said his side so far found no problem during
the implementation of the ongoing shooting tournament among
the armies of the ASEAN member countries.
On the
target his team has set at the 14th AARM, he said his side
has set a tar-get of at least reaching the top five at all
events in the shooting competition but what is also important
is to maintain the good ties among the ASEAN armies.
On the
occasion, he also said that Brunei Darussalam is expected
to host the 15th AARM in 2005 but the date for the event is
not decided yet and his side is looking for the preparations
for the next AARM in January next year.
Concerning
his contingent's preparation for the ongoing AARM in Indonedia,
he said although it was too short beginning only in June 2004
his side has made full preparations for the shooting competition
in Cilodong, West Java. Brunei Darussalam's Army sent no less
than 50 athletes consisting of 43 male and seven female shooters
to the 14th AARM. Some 500 athletes are taking part in the
shooting championship among the armies of the ten ASEAN member
countries Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines,
Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand
