SERVICEWOMEN IN NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES CAN HAVE LONG HAIR
The armies in some countries including Thai-land and the
Philippines allow their servicewomen to have long hair up
to their shoulders, or even longer, it was reported here
Friday.
We
are allowed to have our hair up to our shoulders (or even
longer)," Higher-Ranking Sergeant Kunvatoo Laungjok (27),
a Thai long-haired service-woman, said on the sidelines of
her participation in the 14th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM)
being held by the Indo-nesian National Army in Cilodong, West
Java, from September 1 to 8, 2004.
However,
Kunvatoo said, she must roll up her hair higher than her shoulder
during office hours. Kunvatoo also said she has no problem
during military activities with her long hair.
Although she has long hair, Kunvatoo admitted she has no special
treatment for it as she only washes her hair with shampoo
and must not go to a beauty parlor.
Meanwhile,
woman soldier Josephine M. Dumlao (26) of the Philippine Army
who is taking part in the 14th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (ARRM)
also said after contesting the pistol match-1 that she is
allowed by her unit to have long hair.
