INDONESIAN WOMEN’S TRIUMPH IN AARM’S
PISTOL MATCH-1


The Indoensian Army's women shooters triumphed on Thursday by taking the first place in the pistol match-1 event of the on-going ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) being held in Cilodong, West Java, from September 1 to 8, 2004.

The Indonesian women's team which was reinforced by Sergeant Major Rosidawati, First Sergeant Ni Nyoman Tri A and Sergeant Chief lin Indarti, set the highest record of 1135.028. This record was far higher than that of the Philippine I which occupied the second place with a score of 1129.03. The third place was won by the Thai team which collected only 1086.011 points.

The pistol match-1 event takes a range of 20 meters from the target where shooters must conduct three practices using a pistol with right hand, followed by left hand and then with both hands.

Rosdiawati also set the highest score of 293.007 in the individual pistol match-1 which was participated in by 18 shooters of seven ASEAN countries.

Corporal Josephine M Dumlao of the Philippines won the second place setting a total point of 286.009, who was tightly followed by Susilia Wahyu with a ] point of 2840.008.

Josephine said she happened to be nervous when ] she was trying to point her pistol at the target. "I was nervous at the beginning but became relaxed afterward," she said.
