INDONESIAN CONTINGENT LEADS PROVISIONAL MEDALLY AT 14TH AARM
The
contingent of the Indonesian National Army to the 14th Asean
Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) on Thursday dominated the provisional
medal tally with seven golds, two silvers and for bronzes
from eight matches competed at the AARM taking place here
from September 1 to 8, 2004.
The
Indonesian contingent is great at the Carbine match-1 and
match-2 (both individual and team), individual rifle match,
women's individual and team pistol matches and men's individual
and team pistol matches.
Following
the Indonesian contingent in the provisional medal tally is
the Philippine team gaining one gold, three silvers and two
bronzes followed- by Singapore's contingent with three silvers,
the Thai group that secured one silver and three bronzes and
Vietnamese contingent with one silver and one bronze.
Meanwhile,
five other army contingents of the ASEAN member countries
have yet to win any medal in the ongoing AARM.
The
Indonesian female shooter, Sergeant Major Rosidawati hit the
highest record of 293 in the women's pistol match-1, exceeding
the record of 290 reached by
Thai female shooter at the 13th AARM 2003 in Malaysia.
In
the meantime, Indonesia's higher-ranking sergeant Imam Lubis
also won the highest record in the men's individual pistol
match-1.
Chief
of the Indonesian Army Contingent to the 14th AARM, Major
Rudianto, said he was optimistic that his team could emerge
as the overall champion in the 14th AARM. "So far, we
can reach the target of medal tally as we have set, and we
are optimistic that we can win the event (14th AARM).
